Winlock is a gentle soul who survived some really sad neglect in his former home. He was rescued out of a home with 10 dogs where the elderly owner was no longer able to care for them. Winlock was overfed to the point he got up to 108 pounds, but in the past month, he's been doing so well on his weight loss program that he's down to 95 pounds. A healthy weight for him would be 80 pounds, and he's making great progress with simple portion control!
Despite his sad past few years, Winlock is a doting boy with big brown eyes that will melt your heart. He was badly matted, had ear infections, and painful fox tail seeds embedded in his skin, but he's feeling so much better now after a grooming and some vet care. His personality has really started to shine through, and he's begun initiating fetch with his foster mom – he really loves for you to toss his toy so he can go get it and bring it back to you!
Winlock is approximately 10 years old and currently 85 pounds. He's possibly a Poodle/Irish Wolfhound mix. His fur is long and fluffy, but he's currently in a shaved state since he had such bad matting that needed to be alleviated. He is excellent with other dogs, both large and small, and polite with the cats he's fostered with. Winlock is friendly to all people and is a lower energy dog, happy to relax around the home. He could be totally content with a stroll around the neighborhood for exercise each day. He is potty trained and has had no potty accidents while in foster care. Winlock is also good home alone and not destructive.
Ideal Home
Winlock would ideally do best in a home without a lot of steep stairs. He is on a joint supplement to help support his hips and joint health, and many stairs would likely be tough for this boy.
Ongoing Health
Winlock is on a joint supplement to help support his hips and joint health. He had a dental cleaning in June.
Training & Support
Winlock does need some assistance loading into a vehicle. He is an easy-going, nice dog to live with! Winlock is very thankful for the care he has received and is always smiling and being sweet towards all the people who have helped him so far.
