Amelia, a 5-year-old Malinois/Shepherd mix weighing around 27 pounds, is affectionately known as Lia by those who know her. She made a long journey from Mexico with the hope of finding her person, and she's taking her time to ensure it's the right fit. Lia is a dog who bonds deeply and forms fierce loyalties. Once she decides you're hers, you'll feel an indescribable connection. She'll be your shadow, melting into your side and becoming an integral part of your life, making you feel like the most cherished person on earth. However, she needs you to be patient and consistent, giving her the space to open up at her own pace. Trust that the bond forming is real, because Lia is all about genuine connection.
Ideal Home
Lia would thrive in a quieter, steadier environment, making her an ideal companion for someone seeking a deeper connection. She would be happiest as an only dog, a solo queen showered with affection, though she could potentially share her home with a calm, confident small dog. Homes with small children are not a good fit for Lia, as she needs a more peaceful energy.
Ongoing Health
Lia is up-to-date on her vaccinations, including Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. She has been spayed and microchipped, and tested for vector-borne illnesses. She is current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Lia is fully house-trained, has experience with city living and public transportation, and settles beautifully when left alone. She doesn't touch anything she shouldn't and walks gracefully on leash. She knows "sit" and is a quick learner. While she has a wonderfully silly side, with zoomies and a serious toy collection, she can be a bit reserved initially. Patience and consistency are key to helping her continue to build confidence.
