About Oreo

Oreo is a gentle, resilient, and heartbreakingly devoted soul. She carries herself with a soft caution, always observing her surroundings before she moves, as if assessing whether the moment and the people are safe. Oreo was found wandering the streets late at night, believed to be with her baby. When help arrived, she chose trust over fear, climbing into her rescuer's car instead of running away. Her body shows the signs of having had multiple litters, and while she is slowly learning that kindness can be consistent, she still shudders at certain human interactions. It's believed Oreo experienced abuse before being found, yet she still seeks connection.

Estimated to be around 3-4 years old, Oreo is a mature adult who longs for stability and safety. She is friendly at heart but cautious initially, needing time, patience, and predictability to feel secure. Once her trust is earned, her affection is deeply meaningful. She enjoys hand-feeding, seeks gentle attention, and forms strong, loyal bonds with those who respect her pace.

Ideal Home

Oreo thrives in a calm, quiet, and structured environment. She has not been exposed to children and would do best in an adult-only home or with older, dog-savvy teens who understand boundaries. She is happiest as the only dog, as she does not enjoy meeting new dogs and can become overwhelmed in multi-dog environments. She also has a high prey drive and is not suitable for homes with cats or small animals.

Ongoing Health

No specific ongoing health conditions are mentioned, but her history suggests she has been through a lot.

Training & Support

Oreo is still learning skills like leash walking and potty training. She will need an experienced, compassionate adopter who understands behavior modification, trauma-informed care, and positive, structured training. She isn’t difficult; she’s healing and deserves someone willing to walk beside her as she continues to find her footing. She can be sensitive to certain types of touch, but with consistency and reassurance, she continues to make progress.
