About Comet

Comet is a charming 3-year-old, 56-pound hound/retriever mix who is looking for his forever home! He was rescued from the streets and found his way to us, ready for a second chance. Comet, also known as Buddy, is a playful pup with a balanced energy level – he loves to zoom around but also enjoys a good snuggle. He’s proven to be a great companion, even around the resident dog in his foster home, and has shown no signs of food or resource aggression. He's also done well with indoor cats and children, though we recommend a home with kids aged 10 and up who can understand animal cues, as he does have a bit of a herding instinct.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home where he has a canine sibling to play and snuggle with. While he's done well with cats and kids, a home with children aged 10+ who can respect animal behavior cues is recommended due to his herding instincts.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy who has been neutered.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his crate without issue and doesn't pull on the leash. He's been accident-free in the house and will let you know when he needs to go out. Comet doesn't show signs of separation anxiety, but he does enjoy "taste testing" things, so he's crated when unsupervised. He is a bit wary of men but adores his foster dad. With patience and consistency, he will warm up to new male figures in his life. Comet is eager to please, making him easy to train and not requiring harsh corrections.
