Lázaro is a handsome 6–7-year-old Schnauzer mix who weighs around 19 lbs. He's a calm boy with a gentle soul and a quiet presence, happy to sleep in an open crate for short periods. Lázaro is a social butterfly who gets along with other dogs, children, men, and women. He even coexists peacefully with chickens and roosters! He enjoys affection but isn't overly clingy, preferring to be an independent companion who appreciates calm love. Lázaro is generally tranquil and easygoing, making him a wonderful match for a relaxed household.
Ideal Home
Lázaro would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, an open mind about the behaviors of rescued animals needing protection and education, and ideally, experience in dog behavior and training or a willingness to hire a trainer. High tolerance and patience for rescued pets are essential, as he is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Lázaro is healthy and pain-free despite having a congenital, non-vision eye and missing a few teeth. These differences do not limit him in any way. He has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, is dewormed, microchipped, has a negative 4DX and heartworm test, and receives monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive. He also has a health certificate and vaccination booklet.
Training & Support
Lázaro can be a bit protective of his food, so basic boundaries during feeding time are recommended. He may sometimes bark and try to act like the "boss," but this is never aggressive. Patience and understanding are crucial for rescued dogs as they adjust to new environments. Providing a safe and loving environment, establishing a routine, and clear boundaries will help him feel secure.

Transportation
Lázaro is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our cross-country trip. Door-to-door delivery is available for a one-time fee of $400 USD. We organize 3-4 trips per year with a partnered transport company that handles cross-border transport and provides real-time updates throughout the journey.
