Meet Thomas, a 3-year-old, 68-pound bundle of love and goofy energy! This handsome Pittie and retriever mix is the best of both worlds: he's got the fun-loving spirit of a retriever, making him a fetch superstar, and the affectionate nature of a Pittie, making him a devoted people-lover and a snuggle bug. Thomas is incredibly people-focused and craves human connection. He's gentle, gives big kisses, and genuinely believes he's a lap dog, ready to cuddle all day long. He's also fantastic with children, having happily interacted with kids aged 3 to 13. Thomas has excellent house manners, is reliably house-trained, and enjoys his couch time. He's a smart boy, motivated by treats, and already knows commands like "sit," "down," "leave it," and "fetch." He's crate-trained and enjoys a chew toy like a Kong when crated. Thomas loves car rides and is always ready for an adventure!
Ideal Home
Thomas would thrive in a home that can offer him both adventure and snuggles. A fenced backyard is highly recommended for him to safely zoom and play. He would also enjoy a semi-active family who loves to hike, camp, explore the outdoors, and go on weekend getaways. Thomas is great with other dogs and would do well with doggy siblings, as he's respectful and understands dog body language. However, a feline-free home is recommended as he was too interested in the resident cat at the rescue.
Ongoing Health
Thomas is a healthy boy, and all vetting is up to date, including vaccinations, deworming, and flea prevention. He receives a 12-month heartworm preventative injection.
Training & Support
Thomas is a smart and treat-motivated boy who is highly trainable. He already knows several commands and is a gentle treat-taker, making training a joy. He is gentle-lead trained, and a gentle lead will be included with his adoption. He is fully crate-trained but would love to sleep in bed with his people if allowed.

Transportation
Thomas is currently in Texas. Wags facilitates adoptions across the US with USDA licensed transport, including travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA or Brattleboro, VT). You can follow the transport journey on a private Facebook event page. Texas adopters must pick up in the Houston area.
