About Norma Jeane

Norma Jeane is an approximately 8-year-old, 10lb poodle with a playful and spunky spirit! While the shelter initially listed her as 10, our private vet estimates she could be as young as 7, and she certainly acts like a lively, energetic girl. Norma's absolute favorite thing in the world is a ball! Her ideal day would be filled with chasing a ball non-stop, with only short breaks for naps. She requires an adopter who is committed to playing fetch with her at least four times a day – ball truly is life for this sweet pup!

Norma is wonderful with people, and she especially adores young children who are respectful of dogs. She lives with a 4-year-old human and is captivated by him, following him around and playing ball together. She is very sweet to others, but she's not a cuddler. Norma wants to play with you or enjoy her independence; she is not a lap dog. If you're seeking a dog for snuggles, Norma might not be the right fit, but if you're looking for an amazing sidekick who's up for anything, she's your girl!

She has a medium energy level and doesn't need super long walks, but she'd love to join you for a ride, whether in your arms or a stroller. Once inside and with a ball, it's game on! Norma hasn't shown any signs of separation anxiety and is non-destructive when left to roam freely. Her main training focus is potty training; she will go outside if a back door is left open, but if she isn't closely supervised or the door is closed, she may have accidents indoors. She hasn't quite mastered signaling when she needs to potty. However, she is perfectly content and reliable in a large crate, never having accidents in her "palace," making it a great option when her human isn't home. Norma is also a great car passenger and loves looking out the window.

Norma coexists peacefully with the three large dogs she lives with, showing little interest in engaging with them. She would be fine in a home with another dog, provided that dog isn't overly energetic or intrusive. A laid-back canine companion would be ideal, but she would also be perfectly content as the sole dog.

Ideal Home

An active home with a commitment to playing fetch multiple times a day is essential. Norma enjoys respectful young children and would also be content as a solo dog or with another laid-back canine companion. She is not a lap dog and prefers interactive play or independence over constant cuddling.

Ongoing Health

Norma Jeane has successfully completed heartworm treatment. She was not spayed prior to treatment as heartworm management was the priority. Arrangements will be made for her spay surgery prior to her adoption.

Training & Support

Potty training is an ongoing process. While she can be encouraged to go outside, she needs supervision to prevent indoor accidents. Crate training is a strength, and she reliably holds her bladder in her crate.
