Nesta, an adult Cane Corso mix, is a survivor who came to us after enduring a deeply traumatic situation, including being shot. Despite everything she's been through, Nesta is showing us every day that she's ready to trust again. Because of her past, Nesta is understandably fearful of men. Her response to this fear is typically barking or growling, which are defensive behaviors and not uncommon for guardian breeds who have experienced trauma. She is currently in the very early stages of decompression and professional training, and we are still learning more about her full personality. At this time, we do not know how she is with cats.
Ideal Home
Nesta requires an adopter who is experienced with large guardian breeds (Cane Corso, Mastiff-type breeds, etc.), willing to work closely with our trainer prior to adoption, and committed to ongoing structure, routine, and positive-reinforcement training. She needs a patient, emotionally steady adopter who is ready to help her heal at her pace.
Ongoing Health
Nesta is currently in training, and her adoption fee includes required pre-adoption training sessions.
Training & Support
Nesta is currently in training and is fearful of men, often responding with barking or growling. She needs consistent, positive-reinforcement training and a predictable structure. As a Cane Corso, she thrives with adopters who understand the importance of slow introductions, building trust, and providing calm, balanced leadership.
