Joe is an 80-pound Dane mix who celebrated his 7th birthday in April. Originally adopted in 2020, he found his way back to rescue after his previous family had to surrender him due to allergies. We were happy to welcome him back and after some allergy testing, a diet change, supplements, and a Cytopoint injection, Joe is feeling much better and his allergies are well managed. He’s a happy boy ready to find his forever home!
Joe is the kind of dog who makes every day a little softer, a little quieter, and a whole lot sweeter. He's happiest when he's close to his favorite human, whether that's by your side on the couch, snoozing nearby while you work, or curled up for movie night. His calm, affectionate nature and easygoing presence make him a wonderful companion for a relaxed home. While he may initially gravitate towards women, he warms up quickly to men and forms deep bonds once he feels comfortable. He gets along well with resident dogs and enjoys low-key play. Thoughtful introductions help him make new canine friends, and once settled, he’s happy to coexist peacefully.
Ideal Home
Joe would thrive in a quieter neighborhood, suburban setting, or rural home where walks can be more relaxed. He’s looking for calm, attentive humans who can provide him with plenty of couch time, cuddles, and companionship. He does well with teens.
Ongoing Health
Joe has allergies that are now well managed with a special diet, supplements, and a Cytopoint injection.
Training & Support
Joe knows commands like "sit" and "down," and his love of treats makes training enjoyable. He is crate trained, house trained, and has excellent manners. He can feel a bit nervous when encountering unfamiliar dogs, particularly in busier environments, but with a calm handler who pays attention to his cues and redirects him, he does very well.
