Meet Penny, a 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix with a bright spirit, big heart, and a whole lot of love to give. Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who thrives in an environment where she can stay active, engaged, and close to her people. She's curious, social, and always on the lookout for her next adventure or someone to cuddle. Penny is fully house-trained and enjoys being close to her people, sometimes whining or barking when separated due to her deep bond with them. She loves leash walks and is eager to please, but needs an adopter who will go at her pace and give her time to relax into a routine. Penny is incredibly affectionate and emotionally tuned into her people, offering cuddles and soulful gazes. She has likely experienced past trauma and needs reassurance and calm, consistent care. Penny can be protective of her space and high-value items around other dogs, which is managed in her foster home. She's a sweet, sensitive soul eager to bond deeply with her forever person or people.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy. A cat-free home is recommended due to her prey-driven behavior outdoors. She thrives with confident, medium-to-large dogs who can set healthy boundaries, as she can be overly enthusiastic with smaller or more timid dogs. Her ideal home will provide structure, patience, and understanding, without expecting perfection right away.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Penny is still learning dog social etiquette and can come on a bit strong during play. She needs a home that can provide structure and guidance. She is learning to be comfortable with separation and has not yet been crate trained, preferring to be close to her people. She has a soft spot for chewing on dog beds when bored. Penny can be protective of her space and high-value items around other dogs, which is managed with clear boundaries and respectful management.
