About Murphy

Hi there! My name is Murphy, and I'm a 4-year-old Golden Lab weighing 68 pounds. I'm on the hunt for my forever family and can't wait to meet them! If you're looking for a dog who loves the outdoors, I'm your guy. I absolutely love being outside, whether I'm exploring the yard or playing my favorite game fetch! I also have good recall, which makes outdoor adventures even more fun. When it's time to play, rope toys, tennis balls, and tough chew toys are at the top of my favorites list. I'm a well-mannered boy and know the difference between my toys and your belongings, so you don't have to worry about me chewing on things I shouldn't. I'm a smart, eager-to-please pup who has done very well with training and already knows several commands. I'm completely house trained and crate trained, too. I happily eat my meals in my crate and am comfortable spending time there during the day or overnight, even if my people are nearby. My crate is one of my favorite places to relax. I'm very food motivated, especially when peanut butter is involved! Stuffed Kongs, Pupsicles, and other tasty treats are great ways to win me over. Even though I love food, I have good manners around the table and won't help myself to your meals (though I'll gladly clean up any crumbs that happen to fall). I enjoy the company of other animals and have done well with other dogs. I even lived in a home with a cat and got along just fine. If you already have a furry friend at home, I'd love the opportunity to meet them. Like many Labs, I can get excited and may be a little jumpy when I'm happy to see you. I've also been told I could use a little work on my leash manners, but I'm smart, motivated by treats, and always willing to learn. I'm a sensitive boy who can be nervous around new people and startled by sudden movements or unexpected situations. Because of this, I would likely do best in a calm, adult-only home where I can settle in at my own pace and build trust with my family. Once I feel comfortable, my sweet, loyal, and affectionate personality shines through.
