Meet Penny, a 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix who is as bright as her spirit and as big as her heart. Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who thrives in an environment where she can stay active, engaged, and close to her people. She's curious, social, and always on the lookout for her next adventure or someone to cuddle. Penny is incredibly affectionate and emotionally tuned into her people, happily snuggling, laying her head in your lap, and gazing up with expressive, soulful eyes. She gives love tenfold once she feels safe and understood.
Ideal Home
Penny would thrive in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy. She needs a home that provides structure, patience, and understanding, and doesn't expect her to be perfect right away. A home that enjoys walks, hikes, runs, or sniffy adventures would be ideal, as Penny is at her best when given consistent mental and physical outlets. A cat-free home is recommended due to her prey-driven behavior outdoors.
Ongoing Health
Penny is a spayed female. She has shown prey-driven behavior towards cats outdoors.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and has done well being confined to a designated area when home alone, though she is still learning to be fully comfortable with separation. She has not been crate trained yet and prefers to be close to her people, which may result in whining or barking when separated. She can be trusted loose in the house when items are picked up and food is put away, but may chew on dog beds when bored. Penny can come on a little strong during play, especially with smaller or more timid dogs, and does best with confident, medium-to-large dogs who are comfortable setting healthy boundaries. She can be protective of her space and high-value items like food or toys around other dogs, requiring separation at mealtime and during treat time. These behaviors are manageable and respond well to clear boundaries and respectful management. Penny flinches easily and shows signs of needing reassurance and calm, consistent care.
