Meet Tonka, a big, goofy, and incredibly lovable Akita with a heart full of affection and a personality that's sure to bring smiles! This handsome fellow adores his walks, loves to engage his mind with frozen Kongs and puzzle toys, and is always up for a game with his squeaky toys. When he's excited, he showers his favorite people with kisses and boundless enthusiasm, and he's diligently learning his manners every day. Tonka was born in February 2026.
Ideal Home
Tonka is seeking an experienced and breed-savvy adopter who truly understands the unique traits and needs of Akitas. He'll thrive in a home that can provide consistent structure, ongoing training, and proper management. An active family with a securely fenced yard would be ideal, offering him space to stretch his legs and enjoy supervised outdoor time. Due to his strong prey drive and keen interest in small critters like squirrels and cats, he may be happiest as the only pet in the home. Any introductions to other pets should be done slowly and thoughtfully.
Ongoing Health
Tonka is current on all vaccinations and flea/heartworm prevention. He has been dewormed and had a fecal analysis. A veterinary health exam will be completed prior to adoption.
Training & Support
Tonka is continuing to learn his manners and would benefit from an adopter committed to ongoing training. Building trust and maintaining clear boundaries are key to helping him succeed and feel secure.
