Gina is an 8-month-old, 56lb spayed female Belgian Malinois mix who was found abandoned in a cardboard box by the side of a busy road as a tiny puppy. Despite her rough start, she's blossoming in her foster home and is ready to find her forever family! Gina is a playful and affectionate pup who loves her canine companions. She enjoys games of tug-of-war with her smaller foster siblings and is happy to share her toys, often collecting them in her bed. While she's learning to be comfortable around new dogs, slow introductions are recommended, as she was previously attacked. She's lived successfully with dogs under 15 lbs and over 75 lbs, but would do best in a cat-free home as she gets a little too excited by neighborhood kitties.
Ideal Home
Gina would thrive in an active home with someone who will play with her daily. Given her tendency to jump when excited and her unawareness of her size, a home with older, dog-savvy children (10+) is recommended. She would do well with a family, a couple, or an individual, and would benefit from having another dog in the home for companionship and to help her expend her puppy energy. Adopters should be prepared to provide regular socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment, understanding that she is likely to grow into a large, active dog.
Ongoing Health
Gina is up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and working on house training, with no accidents when crated for up to 8 hours. She walks well on a leash and shows no signs of separation anxiety. She prefers to eat treats alone and is in the "puppy velociraptor stage," so guidance on appropriate chewing is needed.
