About Oak #7447

Oak and River are approximately 18-month-old, male Great Pyrenees littermates who are about 80 pounds each. They are new to our program, and we're still getting to know them, but we can already tell they are incredibly sweet and loving dogs who adore being petted! They were surrendered because they were intended to be trained as guardian dogs, but their previous owners were unable to dedicate the necessary time for their training and socialization. They've spent most of their lives in a kennel with limited attention, and they truly deserve a more caring and attentive environment where they can receive the excellent care they need.

Neither Oak nor River have had any accidents in their kennels, and they are ready for a nice bath and brush. We believe it would be best to place these brothers in separate homes, as Oak tends to get jealous when River receives attention from their shared human. Both boys have interacted well with some of our easygoing dogs.

Ideal Home

These handsome boys need homes with securely fenced yards that are above ground. As guardian dogs, their instinct is to patrol and protect, and they do this best in a safe and secure outdoor space. It's important to note that they have never been on a leash before coming to us. Great Pyrenees have unique needs that differ from other breeds, so we encourage potential adopters to research the breed thoroughly before applying.

Ongoing Health

No specific health conditions have been noted at this time.

Training & Support

These boys have never been walked on a leash before, so this will be a new skill for them to learn. We recommend continued socialization and patient training to help them adjust to their new lives.
