Sandy, a playful and affectionate 1-year-old spayed female, was rescued from the San Antonio shelter and has been showering her rescuers with gratitude ever since. She's curious about everything, making her a perfect mix of sweetness and fun as she continues to explore the world. Sandy has a few small, healed spots of hair loss on her back from old injuries, suspected to be from past abuse, but these do not cause her pain and are simply marks of her resilience.
Ideal Home
Sandy would thrive in an active home with an adopter who enjoys walks, playtime, and training to help her channel her energetic puppy spirit. She would do best in a home with older children (around 7+) and people who are steady on their feet, as she can be enthusiastic and jumpy. Due to a strong prey drive, she is not suited for a home with cats. She would also do well with a balanced and tolerant canine companion who enjoys playing.
Ongoing Health
Sandy has a few small, healed spots of permanent hair loss on her back from old injuries, suspected to be from past abuse. These injuries cause her no pain and do not affect her mobility.
Training & Support
Sandy has high puppy energy and can be a little exuberant when greeting new friends, sometimes forgetting when another dog is done playing, but she is learning quickly. She can be mouthy like a puppy but listens immediately when corrected and is improving daily. She is fully house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping through the night without issue. On leash, she walks well but can get excited by moving objects like scooters; consistency and positive reinforcement will help her become an excellent walking partner. Continued leash work and basic command training will help her continue to grow into her best self.
