Eddie is a gentle, sweet, and sensitive young Labrador mix who is looking for a patient and loving forever home. He is approximately 1.5 years old and weighs about 37 lbs. Eddie can be a bit nervous and shy, especially with physical contact, and may keep his distance at first. However, with time, patience, and kindness, he opens up at his own pace. He enjoys walks and does well on a leash. Eddie is playful, obedient, and affectionate, occasionally giving sweet kisses once he feels safe. He is sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women. Eddie was found near his rescuer's home with his sister, who sadly passed away. They had stayed close together for safety. Eddie was rescued to prevent him from returning to a life on the streets.
Ideal Home
Eddie will thrive in a home that understands shy dogs and is willing to give him the time and space he needs to build trust. He needs a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. Families with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, an open conscience about street animals and their behaviors, and experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, are ideal. He requires high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies. Eddie is sensitive to loud noises such as fireworks and thunder, so a calm and understanding environment where he feels secure is best.
Ongoing Health
Eddie has received extensive health protocols including: spay/neuter certificate, 2 DHPPI vaccines, rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchip, 4DX test and certificate, negative heartworm test certificate, monthly preventive protection (Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm), and a health certificate with a vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Eddie is not house-trained. It is important to understand that rescued dogs may have experienced trauma and require an adjustment period. Patience and understanding are crucial to help him overcome fears and anxieties, adapt to a new environment, and build trust. Establishing a routine and clear boundaries will help him feel secure.

Transporation
Eddie is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip if adopted. Transportation is door-to-door, with scheduled trips 3-4 times a year, requiring a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. A contracted transport company from Montana collects adopted pets in Mexico and escorts them across the border into Texas for US adoptions. For Canadian adoptions, pets are delivered to the nearest US-Canada border. Adopters will be added to a private Facebook Messenger group for real-time updates on their pet's journey, including photos, videos, feeding/walking schedules, and estimated arrival times. The transport team will deliver the pet directly to your home and conduct a final home review. The transport fee is $400 USD.
