Meet Elsa! She is around 2–3 years old, about 50 pounds, and proof that joy has never depended on hearing the world to fully experience it. This sweet girl is incredibly people-oriented and absolutely lights up around her humans. She has learned hand signals beautifully, is highly treat motivated, and genuinely enjoys learning. Training with Elsa is less about working and more about building a language together — one built on trust, eye contact, snacks, and connection. She loves playing with other dogs and has really enjoyed her foster brothers, so a canine companion could be a wonderful match for her, though it isn't required. Elsa is social, affectionate, and fully convinced every neighbor is a potential best friend. In fact, this outgoing girl has been known to hop a fence just to go introduce herself, so she will need a secure fenced-in backyard and supervised outdoor time to help keep her safe. Like many food-motivated queens, Elsa prefers to enjoy meals and special treats separately from other pets. She also thinks cats are a little too exciting, so a feline-free home would suit her best. What makes Elsa special is not that she is deaf — it's the way she moves through the world anyway: confidently, joyfully, and with so much love to give. Deaf dogs have a beautiful way of connecting deeply with their people. They learn your face before your voice, your presence before anything else, and the bond formed with them is truly something special. Elsa is playful, smart, affectionate, and so ready for a family of her own.
