About Gina

Meet Gina! This lovely 1-year-old Belgian Malinois mix is about 56lbs of pure joy and adventure. Gina had a rough start, found as a tiny puppy abandoned in a cardboard box near a busy road. Thankfully, a wonderful foster stepped in and gave her a chance at a happy life. Now, she's ready to find her forever family! Gina is a playful pup who enjoys the company of her doggy friends. She loves a good game of tug-of-war and will often nudge her toys towards her foster siblings to invite them to play. While she's great with small dogs and large dogs, she can be a bit shy around unfamiliar, larger dogs due to a past negative experience. Slow introductions are key, and she's currently thriving with dogs under 15lbs and over 75lbs. She's a bit too excited by neighborhood kitties, so a cat-free home would be best. Gina adores people and has a lot of affection to give, but she can be jumpy when excited and is still learning her size. For this reason, we recommend a home with older, dog-savvy children (10+) who can handle her enthusiasm. She'd thrive in an active household where she can get plenty of daily playtime and mental stimulation. Gina is a toy enthusiast, often collecting them and keeping them safe in her bed. She's mastered fetch and is also happy entertaining herself! Gina would do well with a family, a couple, or even a solo adopter. Having another dog in the home would be a great bonus to keep her company and help her expend some of that puppy energy. She's a beautiful girl who will make a wonderful addition to the right home!

Ideal Home

Gina would do best in an active home with a family that understands how to raise a big, energetic pup. She needs regular socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment. A home with older, dog-savvy children (10+) is recommended due to her exuberance and tendency to jump. A cat-free home is also ideal. She would also benefit from having another dog in the home to keep her company and help with her energy levels.

Ongoing Health

No specific health conditions are noted.

Training & Support

Gina is house and crate trained and can be crated for up to 8 hours. She walks well on a leash and shows no signs of separation anxiety. She does prefer to eat her treats alone and is in the "puppy velociraptor stage," so she'll need guidance on appropriate chew toys.
