About Annie
Annie is a sweet, spunky Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup, around 3-4 months old and weighing 7 lbs. She's estimated to be about 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and adores being doted on. She's curious by nature, always the first to investigate new things, and thrives on exploring the world. She's a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dog friends, making her perfect for an active family that enjoys including their furry companions in everyday life. Annie has a laid-back demeanor that makes her adaptable to different environments and perfect for family adventures. She's happy as long as she's with her humans, whether playing with other dogs, cuddling, or chasing her toys. Annie has a wonderful balance of playful energy and a laid-back cuddle bug vibe. She enjoys running, playing, and exploring, but also loves spending time with her people and soaking up cuddles. She's also great at entertaining herself when her foster mom works from home.
Ideal Home
Annie would love an active family that enjoys walks, exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and including their dog in everyday activities. She would also be equally happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles. She would love a fenced yard to run and play in. Annie would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. She would also be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love and affection. She would love to have fun adventures going on outings around town or visiting Sniff Spots for enrichment. A home where someone works from home or has a hybrid schedule is ideal, but if not, a dog sitter or doggy daycare is recommended for longer days. Annie cannot go more than 8+ hours without playtime and potty breaks. She would do best with older children who are experienced with smaller breeds and know how to be careful when handling her, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. She has been around kitties and is friendly towards them, but would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as she is a puppy and will want to play. Annie is not a fan of public dog parks.
Ongoing Health
Annie is starting to teeth, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human kid toys.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night with no fuss and hangs out in her kennel with the door open to nap. She loves to go on outings in her neighborhood in her doggy pouch. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She is doing well with potty training and will alert her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy door bell by the back door to help her learn how to notify you when she needs to go outside. She does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours initially until she gets on a good routine in a new environment, but she picks up quickly on new schedules. She would love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night when she is older. She would benefit from having frequent play dates with doggy friends or going to doggy day care a couple times a week if she is the only dog in the home, so she can continue having positive interactions with other dogs as she grows up. She knows how to respect the boundaries of the older dogs in her foster home, but would probably be too much for a senior dog who isn't used to puppy energy.
