Mimi is a delightful female American Staffordshire Terrier mix, around 5 years old and weighing approximately 38 lbs. She's a survivor with a heart full of love, found abandoned and alone in Matamoros, Mexico. Despite a rough start, malnourished and covered in ticks, Mimi's sweet spirit never wavered. Now, she's a happy, playful, and affectionate girl who cherishes human companionship and shares her joyful personality with everyone. She's social with other dogs and can live with cats with proper introductions and supervision. Mimi is active, funny, and has a gentle, good-natured temperament, always respectful and eager to please. Her gratitude shines through daily, proving she never takes kindness for granted. Mimi is ready to leave her past behind and embark on a new chapter with a family who will cherish her as much as she will cherish them.

Ideal Home

Mimi would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue, understanding the needs of street animals and possessing an open conscience about their journey. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly valued, or a willingness to hire a trainer for this intelligent dog. High tolerance and patience for rescued dogs are essential.

Ongoing Health

Mimi has undergone an extensive health protocol, including being spayed, vaccinated for DHPPI and Rabies, dewormed, and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworm and has a clean 4DX test. She is on monthly preventative protection with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period, and patience is crucial.

Training & Support

Mimi is not house-trained, and this is an important consideration for potential adopters. The rescue emphasizes that due to the sheer number of animals in their care, they are unable to house-train each one. Patience, understanding, and a commitment to building trust are key to helping Mimi feel secure and comfortable in her new home.

• If it's a match, we'll schedule a call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• We will speak with 1-2 of your references.
• If approved, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.

Transportation

Mimi is currently fostered in Matamoros, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip if adopted. Transportation is available for an additional fee of $400 USD. The transport company organizes scheduled trips 3-4 times a year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. Pets are accompanied by necessary legal documents, including a transport contract and health certificate from the USDA. Real-time updates will be provided through a private Facebook Messenger group. The transport team will deliver your pet directly to your home address and conduct a final home review.
