Trix is an 8-month-old, approximately 35-pound, spayed female Pitbull mix with the sweetest, smartest soul, despite her shy beginnings. She and her brother were surrendered to a shelter in Houston, and Trix was the more withdrawn of the two. While her brother has found his forever home, Trix needed extra time in foster care to build confidence. She was significantly undersocialized early in life, and her baseline is fear of humans. However, she has never shown any reactivity, and when unsure, she simply looks for a safe place to hide. She is gentle, quiet, and incredibly observant, picking things up quickly. With patience and intentional time spent building trust, she grows more comfortable, even playing with toys when she thinks no one is watching, running and sunbathing with other dogs, and eventually choosing to cuddle with her humans. Trix does well with other dogs after proper acclimation and would likely thrive with a confident canine companion. She is housebroken, loves her crate, is learning to walk on a leash, has been around kids (shy at first), and appears to be a low-rider mix who will likely be a medium-sized dog when fully grown. Trix will need a home where someone is around more often than not, as building trust takes time and consistency. She is a diamond in the rough who will require patience, compassion, and commitment, but the reward of watching her discover the world isn't so scary will be extraordinary.
Ideal Home
Trix needs a home where someone is around more often than not, as she is still a puppy and building trust takes time and consistency. She would likely thrive with a confident canine companion, but adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence building.
Ongoing Health
Trix is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.
