Arya is a sweet girl who wants to find a hooman/family who will be patient with her and help her come out of her shell. Once she warms up, she loves butt scratches and being petted. She is unsure of new people and needs time, but she is very treat motivated, which definitely helps! Arya was surrendered to Pet Rescue By Judy when her family had to move but were not able to take her. She is a sweet cuddle bug that would enjoy living in a home with or without kids. She does great with kids of all ages and is great with dogs and cats too! Arya is housebroken, crate trained, and she enjoys sleeping with her family or in her crate with the door open. She recently graduated from the Greyhound Advancement Center's prison training program in 2024, where she learned valuable obedience skills and tricks that will boost her confidence and make her an awesome addition to any family.
Ideal Home
Arya will need a home with a yard. She is much better at going outside, but does not like noise or if it is too "peopley." She especially likes going out at night when it is quiet and loves to do zoomies. She is happiest when she has a taller fence where she feels more sheltered. She does need to be supervised as she is interested in creative snacking outside.
Ongoing Health
Arya is eating K/D prescription food. Her vet is recommending it due to the low sodium, though she does not have kidney issues. She also is on an eye drop medication every twelve hours. She had been drinking excessive amounts of water, and after bloodwork and other tests, her vet started a trial of this in March. Arya showed a good response to the medication and will remain on it.
Training & Support
Arya loves soft squeaky toys, crinkly toys, and chewing on bones. She is house and crate trained. She does fine sleeping loose in the house at night and has recently decided that sleeping in the bed with you is pretty great and isn't too much of a bed hog. She does well with other dogs of all sizes, but occasionally can be dog selective and does not like to be disturbed when sleeping. As she is a bit timid, new owners are encouraged to hang out with her while in the yard and leash walk her to better socialize and acclimate her to new surroundings.
