A little about them
Buster is a bluetick mix and pittie/lab mix puppy. His mother weighs around 45 pounds, and his father weighs around 50 pounds. Puppies are placed with approved adopters based on personality and behavioral evaluations rather than appearance.
Ideal Home
- A home able to be present during the day, at least initially, to support basic training.
- Continued crate training, housebreaking, leash walking, and socialization.
- Puppy training classes are strongly encouraged.
- Adoptions are limited to homes within 2–3 hours of Hampton Roads, Virginia, or northeastern North Carolina.
Ongoing Health
Buster was born on August 11, 2026, and will receive two vaccines before going home. The adopter is responsible for the third booster and rabies vaccine, and must provide proof of that visit to CCRT along with heartworm prevention. Spay/neuter will be scheduled through CCRT, with veterinary records and microchip information provided after the procedure.
Training & Support
At eight weeks, a partnered trainer will conduct behavioral evaluations to help match each puppy with the most suitable home. Buster should continue crate training and socialization after placement.
Application Details
- Approved adopters may express a preference for a puppy's name or gender, but placement is based on personality.
- A one-week adoption trial is offered.
- After the trial, the adoption fee is $275.
- An additional $85 fee for males is due on the day of neuter to help with the cost.
- Puppies go home under a puppy care contract; the official adoption is completed after spay/neuter.
- Applications start by contacting the provider through Wags.
Transportation
Buster must be brought to Chesapeake for the spay/neuter appointment and picked up from Chesapeake later that afternoon. CCRT schedules the appointment and transports the puppy to and from the appointment.
