Meet Hatchi!
This handsome 90-pound young adult Akita/Siberian Husky mix is a majestic tricolor whirlwind of energy with a loyal and tender heart. Hatchi is an oversized teddy bear who's still adjusting to life with only one working eye due to stabilized glaucoma. While he may see shadows, sudden movements can startle him, especially on walks, so he'll thrive with a confident, experienced caregiver who can help him feel grounded and secure. Hatchi is strong on leash and can be reactive to dogs, cats, bikes, and cars that pass by, so he needs someone comfortable with large breeds and who understands the power of positive reinforcement and patient training.
Despite his reactivity, Hatchi is a sweet, snuggly companion at heart. He melts into affection and is eager to please, especially when treats are involved! This intelligent boy responds to his name, is crate trained, house-trained, and has lived harmoniously with young children aged 7 and 8. He may do well with a calm, female dog companion but would not be compatible with cats.
Ideal Home
Hatchi would do best in a home with a confident, experienced caregiver who can help him feel grounded and secure. A fenced yard is essential for his safety due to his Husky instincts and natural curiosity. He would not be compatible with cats.
Ongoing Health
Hatchi has stabilized glaucoma in one eye and will require daily eye drops for the rest of his life. Thankfully, his love of treats makes this task manageable.
