Meet Bart, an adorable 4.5-year-old mini Goldendoodle! Sadly, Bart spent his first few years crated as a puppy mill stud with very limited contact with humans. But all that has changed, and Bart's on his way to happily discovering the world! This sweet boy will be a wonderful addition to a special home. He loves to be near his humans and to be petted. Even though he is quite timid, he will push forward for more, more, more! He is very gentle and delicately takes treats from your hand when offered. Bart is newly housebroken, but is accepting of a doggie diaper for your transition until his neutering happens on December 3rd. He walks enthusiastically on a leash. At this new stage, he will pull a bit, but at 20lbs, he is very controllable, and seeing his joy of being out in the world more than makes up for the quick pace!
Ideal Home
Bart will need to go to a home with a mentor dog. The ideal companion for him will be a medium-energy dog that enjoys playing but doesn't endlessly bark at him or engage in wrestling matches and rousing games of tug. He'll be fine in a single or multi-person household with kids over 8. An apartment setting would be fine as long as the doors open to a confined fenced area or a hallway. Adopters with a house will need a fenced-in yard.
Ongoing Health
Bart will be neutered on December 3rd. As with any Doodle breed, regular trips to the groomer will be needed.
Training & Support
Bart is still learning how to be a dog and live indoors in a loving home. He’s still quite skittish and startles at loud noises or quick movements towards or behind him, but he remains curious and is brave enough to return and check out that situation after a fright. Another dog will help him continue to build this confidence.
