...sweet Melissa...
Unlike the Melissa in the famous Allman Brothers song, our Melissa isn't searching for a place to belong anymore-she's hoping her family is reading this right now!
Melissa comes to us all the way from Alabama, and she is just the most adorable pup. Back in Alabama, she was in a foster home with other dogs, cats, and even rabbits, and she liked them all! Her foster mom told us, "I never let my foster dogs with my two rescue rabbits but Melissa is awesome with everything!"
She is all things you want in a puppy of this age: she is sweet, squishy (sooo much extra skin!), wiggly, and completely smitten with people. She's got enough puppy charm to convince you that one more cuddle is always a good idea. This girl loves to cuddle!
Melissa is still growing up and learning about the world, but she approaches life with optimism and joy.
Melissa has been staying in a foster home with us with a couple and their three dogs. They say that she is housebroken and crate trained, having stayed in her crate for up to 6 hours during the day and done well, as long as she has her stuffed Kong!
As is typical with many of our dogs from the south, Melissa is still getting the hang of walking on a leash! Her fosters say she loves everyone she has met, and is such a silly and sweet girl. Just look at her sleeping positions...!
Her fosters write, "Melissa is an all around happy pup that would love to join you in whatever activity you're doing. Doing the dishes? She'll sit & join ya. Mowing the lawn? She'll play with her toy next to ya. Need a break? She's ready for a nap whenever you are.
She reads people and other dogs very well, is never invasive but always a joy to be around. She's eager to learn and easy to train due to her food motivation.
Melissa would love to have other siblings to play or hangout with, and a yard she can explore at her own leisure.
YOU'D be the lucky one if you got to meet Melissa!"
The song's Melissa was described as "a gypsy lady," always moving from place to place. Our Melissa has done enough traveling already. What she's really looking for now is a home where she can put down roots, grow up loved, and spend her days perfecting her skills in napping, snuggling, and being ridiculously adorable.
If you're looking for a puppy who is equal parts sugar, squish, and sunshine, Melissa might just be your melody. We hope you will ask about her today!
Melissa's adoption fee is $300. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
