Dewey - Puppy - Coming Late August

Meet Dewey, a charming male puppy born on Mother's Day, May 10, 2026! He's currently about 2 pounds and expected to grow to a petite 5-7 pounds, following in his mom Lola's tiny footsteps. Dewey is a delightful little guy with a tan coat mixed with white and black, and a cute black muzzle. He's a playful pup who loves to wrestle with other small dogs and cuddle up for belly rubs and affection. He’s part of a litter of four, named Daisy, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, rescued along with their pregnant mother Lola from a situation with no shelter. Dewey has a sweet disposition and enjoys being with his foster family.

Ideal Home

Dewey would thrive in an active home with another small dog (1-4 years old) to play with. He'll need a family who can check on him every 4-6 hours, so this might not be the best fit for families working long days. He'd be happiest in a household with a lot of activity and people who are home often. Due to his small size, a home with small dogs only is recommended, and he's expected to do well with older, mature children (10 and up).

Ongoing Health

Dewey will be neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on heartworm prevention. His vet work is scheduled for completion in mid-August.

Training & Support

Dewey is currently being trained to use puppy pads and sleeps in a dog bed in an ex-pen at night. He has not yet been trained on a harness and leash due to his vaccination status.

Dewey is being fostered in Dallas, TX, and must be adopted within the Dallas or North Central Texas area.
