Sentry is a happy, goofy, and affectionate 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix, weighing around 40 pounds. He's expected to be a large dog when fully grown, like his mom Wanda who weighs about 55 pounds. Sentry was rescued with his mom and siblings from a rural dumping area and has grown up loved and cared for in a foster home. He wakes up ready to cuddle, play, and explore, and his tail-wagging enthusiasm is contagious. Sentry loves people and other dogs, and he's already potty trained and gaining confidence. He's outgoing and friendly, always eager to make new friends and be part of the action. He has done well with children and has been raised with his littermates, but has not been tested with cats. Sentry is continuing to learn leash skills and basic obedience, and he's a very eager student.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to positive reinforcement and consistency to help him mature into an exceptional adult dog. Continued socialization is key, and we prefer homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor him. If you don't have a resident dog, we'd like to hear your plan for continued socialization through classes, playdates, or daycare. Because Sentry is still young, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
Sentry is a healthy young puppy who has received age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming. He is microchipped.
Training & Support
Sentry is potty trained and continues to learn about the world around him. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. A resident dog can be a great mentor, but if you don't have one, a proactive approach to socialization through classes, playdates, or daycare is essential.
