Dudley is a 2-year-old, 31-pound male Border Collie mix who is incredibly energetic, athletic, sweet, and loving. He's also known for being extremely funny and joyful, always ready for an adventure and happy to be by your side. Dudley is a very smart boy, making him a perfect candidate for training to help him reach his full potential. His intelligence and boundless energy make him an ideal companion for jogging and hiking. He's already leash-trained and enjoys car rides. Dudley's journey to us began when he was abandoned in a park, sadly waiting for his family. He eventually found his way to our doorstep, unwell and in need of help. He was diagnosed with respiratory issues.
Ideal Home
We're looking for active families who enjoy the outdoors and have a genuine intention to rescue and provide a safe haven for a dog. A fenced backyard is a must, as is a home with an open conscience towards the needs and behaviors of rescued street animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly valued, as is a high level of tolerance and patience for rescued pups. Dudley is not house-trained, and potential adopters must understand that rescued dogs may have an adjustment period and may require extra patience and understanding.
Ongoing Health
Dudley has a history of respiratory problems. His health protocol includes being neutered, having received DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and microchipping. He has tested negative for heartworm and the 4DX test. He is also on monthly preventive medication for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.
Training & Support
Dudley is not house-trained and will require dedicated effort in this area. He is, however, leash-trained and enjoys car rides. His intelligence makes him a quick learner, and with consistent positive reinforcement and guidance, he will excel. We emphasize that rescued dogs may need time to decompress and integrate into a new home, and patience and understanding are crucial.
