Essex is a charming 5-year-old, 10-pound companion, as close to a Cockapoo as you can get according to his DNA! He's a clever boy who can entertain himself for hours with his toys and loves to zoom around the yard. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, he can be a bit bossy and would do best as the only dog or with a very laid-back canine friend. Essex would be a wonderful addition to a mature household. He walks nicely on a leash and is mostly house-trained, though he does have a habit of marking other dogs' beds, which is part of his alpha personality. He needs an experienced owner who understands his unique character. When he was rescued, Essex was very matted and had to be shaved down, but his beautiful coat is now growing back wonderfully.
Ideal Home
Essex would thrive in a home without young children, specifically no one under the age of 8. He would do best as an only dog or with a very mellow companion dog. An experienced owner who understands his alpha tendencies will be key to his happiness.
Ongoing Health
Essex's coat is growing in beautifully after being shaved down due to matting. He is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza). He is also on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and parasites.
Training & Support
Essex is well-behaved on leash and mostly house-trained, but he does occasionally mark other dogs' beds. As a precocious and alpha dog, he benefits from an experienced owner who can guide him.
