Meet the sweet and quiet Benson!

After being hit by a car in Texas and left to wander, Benson underwent a leg amputation. He has slowly learned that humans can mean good things, like treats and air conditioning. Benson gets along well with other dogs and is completely indifferent to cats. He is potty trained, rides beautifully in the car, and has been a perfect gentleman for all vet visits and handling. If you're looking for a dog who needs to be attached to your hip every second of the day, Benson may decline. True to his Great Pyrenees roots, he's more of an observer versus a clingy companion. He's happiest hanging out in the same room, keeping an eye on things and enjoying your company without demanding constant attention. Benson isn't looking for excitement; he's looking for peace and a soft place to sleep.

Ideal Home

Benson's ideal home would be calm and low traffic. We would recommend children over 12 who have boundaries around dogs, so as not to scare him. Loud, wild, screechy little humans would be overwhelming for him.

Ongoing Health

Benson is a tripod due to a previous injury. A home with minimal stairs is preferred to help keep him comfortable long-term.

Training & Support

Benson is potty trained and a perfect gentleman during handling and vet visits. He is described as a lower-energy guy who prefers a slower way of life.
