Gio, a 4-year-old, 78-pound black lab mix, is the master of the bear hug! He loves to wrap his paws around you and is happiest when he's showered with affection, soaking up every pet with pure joy. Gio is a certified love bug, eager to be your best friend, and isn't shy about crawling into your lap for some quality snuggle time. Beyond his cuddly nature, Gio is also a playful pup who enjoys walks and has a growing fondness for splashing in the water. His balanced energy makes him a great companion for both active adventures and relaxing downtime. He's a good traveler, comfortable in the car and always up for an outing, but equally content to chill with his humans. Gio is a dedicated learner, excelling in obedience classes and mastering leash walking. While he's enthusiastic about meeting new friends, he's learning to manage his excitement. He is working on his food guarding tendencies and showing good progress.
Ideal Home
Gio has lived successfully with older female dogs and respects their space. He has not done well with the male foster dog in his current home, so a home with only female dogs or as the sole canine companion would be ideal. He has not been tested with cats, but with careful introductions, he may be able to live with them. He would do best in a home with children aged 10 and older.
Ongoing Health
Gio is crate-trained and enjoys having a comfortable space to relax. He can be a bit of a chewer when bored, so providing him with plenty of stimulating toys and activities will keep him happily entertained.
