About Roo

Roo is a ~1-year-old, 60 lb Black Lab mix with the cutest nicknames like Roo-Roo and Rooster! She was found running with her buddy Peppa, and when no one claimed them, rescue welcomed them both. Peppa has since found her forever home, and now it's Roo's turn! Roo is a medium-energy girl. As a young Lab, she enjoys playtime and zoomies but is mostly a chill companion. She's a bit of a scardy cat, a walking tumbleweed, and often clumsy, but she's also incredibly curious and makes for a great neighborhood spy! What we love most about Roo are her cuddles, her little snores, her adorable attempts at gracefully eating treats, and those puppy eyes that melt your heart. She especially loves to playfully nip at new foods before diving in. Roo’s favorite things include her foster brother, squeaky toys, bones, and treats (cheese and hot dogs are a big hit!). She also loves snuggling with her foster family, even in bed!

Ideal Home

Roo would thrive in a home with a confident, playful canine sibling, as she adores her foster brother and truly thrives with a furry friend to guide her. She can also live with a dog-savvy cat, though she might occasionally try to initiate play with a chase. Due to her under-confident nature, she would do best in a home with children aged 10 and older, as the chaos of younger kids can make her extra nervous.

Ongoing Health

Roo is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped.

Training & Support

Roo knows "sit" (most of the time!) and tends to follow another dog's lead when commands are given. She is approximately 95% housetrained, with occasional accidents. She is also crate trained. Roo is a bit of a "scardy cat" and is initially afraid of new people, often barking with a nervous growl. However, with a few minutes, patience, and some high-value treats like hot dogs and cheese, she warms up quickly and becomes a cuddle monster.
