Winston aka Winnie in NY

Winston, a distinguished 13-year-old chocolate and tan Dachshund, is seeking his final forever home. He came to us when his owner moved into a nursing home, and sadly, his family could no longer keep him. Winston may be a senior, but he still has plenty of life and love to give! He enjoys gentle companionship and would be happy to follow you around all day and snuggle up at night. He also makes a great little bodyguard and will alert you to any strangers or unusual noises. Once introductions are made, he's friendly with visitors. Winston is ready to become your most devoted best friend.

Ideal Home

Winston would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where he can safely explore. He needs a quiet environment and would do best with a person or couple who is home most of the time or retired. He can be the only dog or live with another small, adult to senior dog. He is not suited for homes with young children, as they make him nervous, and he is not a good fit for homes with cats.

Ongoing Health

Winston is up-to-date on all his vaccinations and microchipped. He receives monthly heartworm medication.

Training & Support

Winston is house-trained on a schedule and leash-trained. He is also crate-trained, though he does not enjoy being in his crate. Winston may bark at strangers initially, so proper introductions are important for him to feel comfortable.

Winston is currently in Buffalo, NY. We are able to provide transportation for Winston along the East Coast and into the Midwest to help him reach his new home.
