Bugsy

Bugsy is a sweet and joyful 5-year-old, 22-pound beagle mix whose happy spirit shines through, despite a less-than-ideal start in life. He's incredibly gentle and affectionate, thriving when he's close to his people or snuggled up with another dog. Bugsy boasts excellent house manners, never having had an accident and being a pro at using a dog door. He enjoys playful moments in a fenced yard, followed by calm companionship indoors, often found napping near other dogs, observing the world from the window, or engaging with his favorite toys. Evenings are best spent with cuddles! Bugsy is a fantastic traveler, riding calmly in the car and sleeping soundly in a dog bed. While he's not a fan of crates, he's trustworthy when left alone, provided tempting chewables are out of reach. Walks are a work in progress, but he gains confidence with a canine buddy by his side, making a resident dog a must for his new home. He's also great with kids and would love an active, loving family to share playtime, cuddles, and affection with.

Ideal Home

Bugsy would thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion to help him gain confidence on walks, and a securely fenced yard for him to explore.

Ongoing Health

Bugsy has completed heartworm treatment and will need a recheck in October, along with year-round monthly prevention. He also tested positive for Lyme, ehrlichia, and anaplasmosis and has finished a course of doxycycline without any symptoms.

Training & Support

Bugsy is housetrained and does well when left alone if chewable items are put away. He is still building confidence on walks and would benefit from having another dog in the home to guide him.
