Meet Ellie, a 3 1/2-year-old Husky mix who is as smart as she is silly! Saved from a difficult situation, this sweet girl is now ready to find her forever home. Ellie loves life to the fullest, whether it's chasing her favorite ball, playing tug with her wubba, zooming around the yard in the morning, or soaking up belly rubs. She's food-motivated, quick to learn, and always looking for the next fun game. True to her Husky side, she's a talker with plenty of personality, and she'll keep you laughing every day. She's crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and even knows the doggie door. Ellie has done great out in public and busy environments—she enjoys meeting new people, handles herself well, and isn't much of a barker. She's also had good on-leash interactions with other dogs. At home, she doesn't chew household items (just her toys!) and is welcome on the couch, bed, or beanbags—she loves being near her people and will snuggle when she's in the mood.
Ideal Home
Ellie's ideal home would be one with a secure backyard where she can run and play. She would likely do best with another playful dog her size or as the center of attention for an active person or family. She has lived successfully with teenagers.
Ongoing Health
Ellie is a healthy girl, but like many young Huskies, she has some quirks that make her unique. She thinks socks left on the floor are fair game for toys, she believes all dog toys are meant to be shredded, and she's always on the move (relaxing takes practice!). She's playfully mouthy, can be a little shy about doorways and hallways, and prefers belly rubs over side pats. Critters will definitely catch her eye, and while she's not a big fan of putting on her collar or harness, she's totally fine once they're on. And true to form, Ellie is a shy pooper; she usually prefers to do her business at home instead of on walks.
Training & Support
Ellie is currently working with a trainer on recall, polite greetings, and leash focus when squirrels are around. She's also learning that her crate is a safe place, and she's practicing relaxation games to help her settle down.
