Meet Santana!
Santana is a spirited five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier with a stunning blue fawn coat and bright, engaging eyes. He's a loving boy who adores people, often greeting them with happy foot taps and a shower of kisses. Weighing around 65 pounds, Santana has a medium energy level, enjoying playful bursts of energy followed by relaxed companionship. His favorite game involves chasing and catching a rubber tire mid-air! He knows basic commands like "sit" and "stay," comes when called, and enjoys car rides. Santana is crate-trained and feels secure in his crate when left alone, as he can become destructive if given too much freedom, especially around food.
Ideal Home
Santana would thrive in a home where he is the only dog, as he has a history of altercations with other dogs, particularly males. He is very good with people and is affectionate, social, and gentle with both adults and children. While he can be selective with dogs, he has shown he can do better with some female dogs with proper introductions and management. He would do well with a family who understands large, strong companions and can provide structure, supervision, and consistency. Due to his natural prey drive, a home without small animals is recommended. A fenced yard will help him enjoy safe, happy playtime.
Ongoing Health
Santana is vaccinated and microchipped. He handles routine veterinary visits well. He needs to have a broken upper canine tooth extracted and a small mole above his eye evaluated by a veterinarian. His adoption will require that he be neutered by his new family, and resources can be provided to support this process.
Training & Support
Santana communicates his discomfort with clear body language and benefits from positive reinforcement training to build calm, confident interactions. He can become destructive and curious with food if given too much freedom.
