Max is a 6-year-old, 71 lb male Akita/Husky mix with one striking blue eye and a gentle soul. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and fully house-trained, having had no accidents in his foster home. Max truly loves life; he is a beautiful, intelligent dog who is obedient, eager to learn, and very in tune with the people around him. He already knows most commands and is a quick learner who enjoys working with his handler. Max builds strong bonds with people when given time and space to get to know them. Once he feels safe, his calm and happy personality truly shines.
Max was dumped at a kill shelter in NY and was quickly placed on the euthanasia list. He was very frightened at the shelter, hesitant on walks, and unsure of people. He would gently take treats, drop them, and only eat them once the person stepped away, showing a clear desire to trust but needing to feel safe. Upon arriving at his foster home, Max showed trust right away, taking a treat from his foster's hand immediately. His trust continued to grow, and within a week, he settled in and became more comfortable. Now, he is calm, happy, and enjoys being around people. He loves walks, exploring new places, and going on car rides. Max also has a sweet, playful side and enjoys carrying around his favorite toys, especially his duck, avocado, and little mouse.
