Opal

Opal is a five-year-old purebred American Foxhound who weighs approximately 35 pounds. She's a bundle of energy who loves to play and explore, but also knows how to relax and sleep for hours on end. Opal was rescued by Vintage Racers for Rescues and, after being terrified of everything when she first arrived, has blossomed into a confident and sweet dog who loves meeting new people. She enjoys hiking, car rides, visiting dog parks, and snuggling up on the couch.

Ideal Home

Opal would thrive in an active home where she can get plenty of exercise. She cannot be kept with birds or small rodents due to her prey drive. While she has lived with a cat for four years without issue, she might chase a skittish cat.

Ongoing Health

Opal is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative. She recently had a full dental cleaning and has no known health problems. She has a brand-new Soresto collar.

Training & Support

Opal is crate trained and house-trained. She generally gets along well with other dogs, horses, cows, and children. In typical hound fashion, she likes to counter surf, so it's important to keep food out of reach and use a dog-safe trash can. Opal knows her name but doesn't have a strong recall, so she does best in a fenced area.
