DELILAH

Delilah is a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix who initially came to us as a baby in a litter with her mom and dad. She was adopted as a puppy but unfortunately, her owner had to move and couldn't bring Delilah along. Delilah struggles with strangers and meeting new people and is protective of her family. Her previous owner shared that Delilah was great with the family, including children aged 3 and 9, and was excited, affectionate, and playful with them. Delilah lived mostly outside and enjoys squeaky toys and chews. Her need for rescue placement stems from her wariness and protectiveness. She has been fearful in the kennels and showed defensive behaviors during intake. We believe Delilah's best chance of success is with a rescue group or an experienced adopter who can help her learn that people can be fun and she doesn't have to be so scared. The shelter environment is stressful for Delilah, making it difficult for her to cope.

Ideal Home

Delilah may never be the dog who wants to join you on a busy restaurant patio or walk downtown. She might do best in a home that understands her need for space and takes things slow.
