About Alfie
Alfie is a handsome 5-month-old Shepherd/Pitbull Terrier blend with a bright future ahead of him! He weighs 38 pounds and is estimated to be a large dog when fully grown. Alfie and his siblings were rescued with their mom, Lilly, who sought shelter in an abandoned building. They were later found in a barn, and thankfully, a rescue organization stepped in to help this sweet family find loving homes. Alfie is the largest of his litter and especially enjoys human company. He's a smart, eager-to-learn pup who is doing well with crate training and is making progress with potty training, though he may have a little excited peeing when first greeted. Alfie is affectionate, learns quickly to take treats gently, and is generally well-mannered in the house.
Ideal Home
Alfie is looking for a committed family to help him learn, mature, and grow. He thrives in the company of other dogs and has done well with adult dogs in his foster home, showing typical playful puppy behavior around them. He will need a home willing to socialize him with new people and other dogs, as he can be shy and hide when new people visit, requiring continued work to build his confidence. For this reason, we prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to act as a mentor. If you do not currently have a dog, you will need a specific plan for socialization once Alfie is fully vaccinated. Additionally, puppies of Alfie's age need consistent human interaction and cannot be left alone for more than four hours during the day.
Ongoing Health
Alfie is a young puppy, and ongoing veterinary care will be essential for his continued health and well-being.
Training & Support
Alfie is smart and eager to learn. He's doing well with crate training and house manners, including taking treats gently. He is still working on potty training and may exhibit excited peeing. He is also shy around new people and needs continued socialization and confidence-building. A well-adjusted canine role model in the home is highly recommended to help teach appropriate play, communication, and boundaries. If you don't have another dog, a proactive plan for socialization through puppy classes, playdates, or supervised daycare is essential.
