Memphis

Memphis is a handsome adult male Labrador Retriever mix with a big heart, despite a difficult past. He experienced significant distress when he was left behind, showing deep fear and sadness. Thankfully, Memphis is now beginning to trust and show his true, sweet puppy-like nature. He's a big dog who has experienced big heartbreaks, and he deserves a loving home to help him heal.

Ideal Home

Memphis would do best in a home where he feels safe and secure, with patient adopters who understand he may need time to decompress and build confidence.

Ongoing Health

Memphis will be spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption.

Training & Support

Memphis is not yet house-trained and will require ongoing guidance and positive reinforcement to learn this skill. Introductions to any resident dogs should be slow, cautious, and appropriate, allowing him time to adjust to his new environment.

• All household members, especially those under 18 and any decision-makers, should be present to meet Memphis.
• Dog-to-dog meet-and-greets can be arranged at the shelter for your current dog(s). Proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s) will be required.

Transportation

Memphis is currently located at Chicago Animal Care and Control at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you plan to adopt on the day of your visit, please arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm can view animals until 7pm.
