Meet Thia! This smart, loyal, and incredibly affectionate 1-year-old Lab/Retriever mix has a huge heart and so much potential. Shelter life has been tough on her, leading to some stress, but even so, she remains devoted and eager to learn. Thia adores people and loves being included in family activities. She's highly intelligent and food-motivated, already knowing several commands and thriving with structure and positive reinforcement. She enjoys playing with her toys and has a special love for water! Thia has been working hard with a trainer and is looking for a committed adopter ready to continue her journey. She can be reactive to other dogs and passing vehicles on walks, sometimes barking and lunging. This means she needs an adopter who understands leash reactivity and is patient and consistent with training. Reactivity isn't aggression; it's just a sign of an overstimulated environment. Thia is a strong, athletic girl who will need a confident handler to help her navigate the world. Her time in the shelter has also affected her potty training, but with a consistent routine and the calmer environment of a home, she's expected to make great progress.
