Birka

Birka is a sweet, 3-year-old German Shepherd with so much potential! She's eager to learn and please, motivated by praise and her food/toy drive. Birka thrives in an active environment where her physical and mental needs are met daily. She's looking for a home that understands her breed and is ready to embrace her intelligence and energy.

Ideal Home

Birka would do best in a home with an active family willing to provide her with proper daily exercise and mental stimulation. Due to her high prey drive, she is NOT suited for a home with small pets of any kind. She also tends to jump, so a home with older children or adults would be best.

Ongoing Health

Birka is a healthy girl with no known ongoing health concerns.

Training & Support

Birka is potty trained and crate trained, settling well and staying quiet when in her crate. She's a good girl in the car and knows several commands, including sit, down, wait, come, out, crate, and place. She has a high food drive and medium toy drive. She's also treadmill trained and good with basic grooming like nail trims, teeth brushing, ear cleaning, bathing, and blow-drying. Birka is good with other dogs her size or larger when introduced properly and would enjoy a canine companion who likes to roughhouse. She has a high prey drive and is working on her jumping. She is also learning to heel and has been introduced to an e-collar. Birka requires a confident, gentle, yet firm handler who will provide structure and consistency, continuing to encourage her to make good decisions. Like many German Shepherds, she can be protective of her environment if not properly structured.
