Sweet Pea is a petite, affectionate, playful dog with a huge heart and an adorable “tippy toes” happy dance. She loves fetch, hide-and-seek, and spending time with her family. She walks beautifully on leash, enjoys active play, and is eager to connect with her people.

Ideal Home

Sweet Pea does well with cats and has gotten along with every dog she has met. She may enjoy a patient, playful canine companion who can handle her energetic style. Because she can be enthusiastic during play and is still learning when other dogs need a break, supervision and thoughtful management are important. She will likely do best with older children and adults who respect her boundaries.

She can be protective of food and toys around other dogs. Her family should understand dog body language and provide space, reassurance, redirection, and plenty of mental and physical enrichment. She is working on keeping four paws on the floor when greeting people. Sweet Pea must have only durable, hard-to-destroy toys because she previously swallowed part of a soft toy and required surgery.

Her adoption fee includes her spay, microchip, current vaccines, and a heartworm test.

Training & Support

Sweet Pea is comfortable in her crate and knows sit, stay, down, “go get your toy,” and “drop it.” Her adoption also includes a free training course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha.
