Snickers is a handsome 3-year-old mixed breed hound, weighing under 45lbs. He came to us with his family when their home became overwhelmed with too many dogs, a poignant reminder of the importance of spaying and neutering. While his siblings have found their forever homes, Snickers, being one of the more fearful, is still patiently waiting for his special person.
When Snickers first arrived, he was terrified and had never experienced the outside world or even worn a leash. He's come so far in learning to trust, and we know with the right environment, he'll continue to blossom. He absolutely adores other dogs and would thrive in a calm, adult-only home. A confident canine companion would be a wonderful mentor for him, helping him learn and feel secure. Walks can be a bit overwhelming for Snickers; he gets easily spooked by busy streets, loud noises, and crowds, preferring to retreat to the safety of his den. The bustling shelter environment is particularly challenging for him, so a peaceful home is his ultimate dream.
Ideal Home
A quieter, patient adult home would be ideal for Snickers. He would also benefit greatly from having a confident, compatible dog in the home to look up to and learn from.
Ongoing Health
Snickers has a history of chronic ear infections, which have been managed with a special hypoallergenic diet, leading to fewer flare-ups. He can become quite anxious during veterinary visits and may require medication to help him relax. Otherwise, he is a healthy boy.
Training & Support
Snickers is still learning to navigate the world outside his comfort zone. He's come a long way with trust but will need continued patience and understanding as he gains confidence. He may be easily spooked by loud noises and busy environments.
