Meet Julio!
Julio is an approximately 4-year-old French Poodle mix, weighing around 22 pounds but still needing to gain some weight to reach his ideal 33 pounds. He has a heart full of love and a story of resilience that will melt your heart. Julio was found in rough condition, suffering from malnutrition and injuries. Despite a past of being chained up, he has emerged as one of the sweetest and most affectionate companions imaginable. He's incredibly social and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, children, men, and women. He's leash-trained, crate-trained, and will bark when he needs to go outside. Julio's desire is to be close to his people and feels happiest when everyone is together. He can be a little anxious when separated due to his past, but his greatest wish is to belong. A unique quirk he has is carrying leashes around, a sweet reminder of his freedom from being tied up. Julio has endured neglect but never lost his gentle spirit.
Ideal Home
- A home with a fenced backyard
- An active family that enjoys outdoor activities
- Families with a genuine intention to rescue a dog and an open mind about the behaviors of street animals needing protection and education
- Experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer
- High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies
Ongoing Health
Julio is recovering from past neglect and malnutrition. He has received comprehensive veterinary care including spay/neuter, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Julio is not yet house-trained, which is common for rescued dogs. He is leash-trained and crate-trained and can hold his bladder for 8-10 hours. Patience and understanding are crucial for him to fully adjust to his new home and build trust.
