About Sentry
Sentry is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued from the woods in a rural area outside of Houston with his mother, Wanda, and his siblings. Sentry is a happy, goofy, and affectionate puppy who loves people, other dogs, and life itself. He wakes up every day ready to cuddle, play, and go for walks, bringing joy wherever he goes. As an older puppy, Sentry has a good balance of playful energy and a desire to settle in as a wonderful companion. He is potty trained and is growing into a confident and well-rounded dog. Sentry is outgoing, friendly, and always eager to make new friends, whether human or canine. He has been raised with his littermates and mother and loves playing with other dogs. He has done well around children and recently enjoyed attention from both adults and kids at a community event. Sentry is continuing to learn leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to please.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him continue to mature into an exceptional adult dog. We prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Sentry, as continued socialization with a canine role model is very important for his development. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization, which might include training classes, playdates, or supervised daycare. Because Sentry is still young, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
No specific health concerns are noted in the description.
Training & Support
Sentry is potty trained and continues to practice his leash skills and basic obedience, showing eagerness to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. We encourage continued socialization with safe, positive experiences with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs to build lifelong confidence.
