Dagger is a 6.5-month-old, spayed female Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. She was rescued with her mother and littermates from a rural area outside of Houston and has been lovingly fostered, learning to trust and thrive. Dagger is a fearless and curious pup with a heart full of cuddles. She’s known for her sweet love nibbles and her striking dagger-shaped marking on her neck. Dagger is a wonderful blend of playful energy and a desire to be a devoted companion. She enjoys testing her limits and is quite the talented escape artist, but her favorite place is curled up with her person, soaking in affection. She's a social butterfly who approaches life with confidence and has a wagging tail for almost everyone. Dagger has been around children and has done well, and enjoys playing with other dogs.
Ideal Home
Dagger is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building her confidence, and helping her mature into an exceptional adult dog. She thrives with ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice. Because Dagger is still young, a home where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time is preferred.
We strongly prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Dagger. A canine role model can teach appropriate play, communication, and boundaries in ways humans can't replicate. If you don't currently have a dog, please share your plan for continued socialization, which could include structured training classes, regular playdates with trusted dogs, or supervised daycare.
Ongoing Health
No specific ongoing health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Dagger is potty trained and is continuing to learn about the world. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help her thrive. Continued socialization is very important for Dagger to build lifelong confidence.
